Calm Night Hasn't Come Yet...

Today I came to office environment for work. Yeah, I really looked for a space...
Due to the client’s decision for time being, people, including me, are forced to work at home.
Same as last week, this week there is no change... whatsoever.

So I came to my office for own space to work, instead of working at home. Much better!

Productivity level was certainly up. I felt much better. Am sure that client will be content as well. Hehehe.

Anyhow, I see some night view through the window of the meeting room where I worked today.
Seemed to be calm already... though, not yet. We still have minor earthquake as after-shock.

When to be calm for all of us? That’s the biggest question for now.

I found a youtube video of the tsunami. Not of how the disaster developed over the area... but of how one ship went over tsunami wave. This is quite amazing...

National Holiday

It was off for national holiday today... making it to be extended weekend til this day!
Well, because of disaster still going on, I (we) do not feel anything like a good short holiday.

MoonFlower and I spent time entirely in the house for doing, pretty much, nothing.

Pasta & Cake

This is what MoonFlower fixed for supper. Very good! Happy

Bourgogne Wine

No drinks for a while... particularly due to earthquake disaster.
Well, we, MoonFlower and I, try to bring everything back to normal. I know, this is in vain.
However, we opened a bottle of wine tonight.

We should keep our lives going and try to stay normal as possible.
Of course, we do all kind of assistance needed to those who are surviving...
Nothing fancy for ourselves... but try not to do nothing for ourselves, either.

No big dinner. Along with that bottle, just ham and cheese... No big dish, I mean.

Scheduled Power Outage - Begins

As announcement by the government last night, the scheduled power outage gets in effective from today.
It means, 5 different areas divided to take turns for power outage.

Government and Tokyo Power were concerned about the Tokyo area to be part of it... because Tokyo takes full responsibility for functioning as the capital of Japan. Well, they mentioned that it would take Tokyo area into consideration soon.

Well, my area - Edogawa, one of 23 Wards of Tokyo, wasn’t on the list and effected by today’s outage execution.

From 6:20am till 10pm, Government and Tokyo Power carefully observed the level of power consumption against current capability. Because of so many people’s efforts, the power outage wasn’t needed until late afternoon. Finally, 1st power outage took place from 5pm till 7pm.

This is not the end of story like mentioned yesterday... rather, this is just beginning.
The schedule power outage will continue until end of April... and may be in effective during the summer and winter when the power consumption is at the seasonal peaks.

I didn’t have a choice at all and worked from home today.
MoonFlower went to the Koiwa Station and realized that railway was already out of service. Japan Rail was affected by the power outage and decided not to operate some (half of) railway network today.

Thus, MoonFlower had no way to go and merely came back home. She was forced to be home all day long for nothing. For me, I worked from home and at least tried to be productive. Hahaha.
I am not good at working under such condition. But I’d better suck it up...

There were tons of people working like crazy to save lives and keep all’s life going.
Moreover, there are so many survivors out there... waiting for life-support products.
My condition should be considered as nothing compared to them.

Anyhow, the 1st day of scheduled power outage is over... will see what to be next day.

Nuke / Power Issue from the Earthquake / Tsunami

Not only Tsunami is the issue...

Now we face another hardship... Nuke issue.
We have major Nuke Power Plant in Fukushima and the Plant got damaged by the Tsunami as well.
2 out of 7 generators are not working well...
Those are almost considered “melt-down.”

This affects the entire amount of power required for all in Kanto area including Tokyo.

In fact, power cannot be supplied fully to the needs.
Government now decides to take planned power shut-down all over the area.

It means people have to live out of power time to time as per the plan.

from 6:20am to 10pm... different time zone and different area...
I do not know how this affect to my work...

This planned shut-down would last for 1 month or possible longer...
Well, this disaster is so massive and all the nation should cooperate as much!
I definitely second this!!!

Here are some photos of disaster... massive one for sure!!!

Tohoku Kanto Earthquake

Beyond my imagination...
Whole city was swiped out by Tsunami!!! Many places like that...
Way more than crazy...

Now talking about 1,300 casualties... but seems going up fast.
You know, Kobe Awaji Earthquake in 1995 - 6,000 people died... It was M7.3.

Now, M9.0 changed over several times... initially 7.4, then 8.0 and 8.8...
This means more than 6,400 casualties possible? Hope not.
But the number is surely climbing... at very fast pace.

Last night talked about 700 deaths by the media.
Now 1,300... am wondering what it would be by the end of day tomorrow.

All lifeline or all infrastructure are gone out of control... out of service.
300,000 people are evacuated, living in such inconvenient life setting.
Oh boy...

All I can do is...

Pray for more people to be rescued
Blood donation
Money donation
and
Reduction of Power Consumption for others in need.

3-11 Massive Earthquake to Japan

It was about 2:45pm... I was in the meeting on 21st floor of 50-story building.
It wasn’t something I have ever experienced... MUCH MORE THAN THAT.
Until then, I have never felt “scared” about any earthquake... but I was SCARED then.
Really horrible shaking it was!

I really imagined that the building would be collapsing like 9-11 disaster.

Well, the 1st earthquake was done... then big security alarm all over the building.
It could cause a fire within the facility, everyone must be evacuated as soon as possible.
Oh boy!

We had to take stairs from 21st floor down to ground floor.
While doing so, many smaller (still big one compared to my past experience) earthquakes hit...
It was even hard for me to keep standing... so many people sit down, being so scared.

Finally, I made the ground safely.

It was around 5:30pm, we were okayed to go back... on foot again.
I finished a meeting (still business!) around 7pm... then went back to my desk on 27th floor (via stairs).

I made all my team members were okay and I reported so to my firm.
After that, I waited for subway back on operation...

I finally took a train around midnight... from Roppongi to Morishita.
Another train from Morishita... was troublesome... SO PACKED and I had to let several trains go...
Only one train every 30 mins or so. I caught the 3rd train, finally.

Went to Motoyawata Station... not usually one for me... but that was the closest possible one for me to go home tonight.

Too bad that JR - railway is totally closed down due to the earthquake. It is much more vulnerable than is subway.

So from Motoyawata, I have to walk home from that point. Took me a full hour on foot.
Thank God, I made home... even though it was 3:30am!!! I was alive and no major damage to my new home!!!

MoonFlower is also safe. I contacted her over phone only once throughout the messy communication downtime. She stayed with her mother over tonight just in case. Major gas explosion happened near her workplace. Thank God, she is also safe...

My firm threw a large seminar today!
Of course, I was attending for 2 prospects. 3 presentations.
Thank God, I wasn’t one to present! Hahaha.

1st Golfing in 2011

Well, finally 1st golfing today!
It was easy course for anyone... not me, though.
Almost all 18 holes were straight!

However, my score doesn’t make much difference from other occasions at other courses.
