2013 Christmas Dinner

Lots of good foods… all day long!
Christmas celebration started at Conrad Tokyo Hotel -
Restaurant called "cerise" - same place as last year!

It was good one last year; so we try this year again.
Not making our tradition at this particular place for every Christmas, though.
Hahaha.

20131223_1

Late reservation made us sit near entrance rather than window-view side.
Didn't matter to us much.
1st drink was Champaign. No doubt about that.

20131223_2

20131223_3

20131223_4

20131223_5

Good dinner for sure.
Right volume for both of us. Not too much… not too less. Just good.

MoonFlower made a small remark that she would like to go to Mandarin Oriental Tokyo for next Christmas.
Restaurant called "Signature" - sounds French and expensive… is it?
Hahaha.

Walked from Shiodome to Otemachi - quite bit of distance.
It was just because we didn't end up with what we want for Christmas present.
Neither of us get one… at least today.

Then, celebration continued home after all.

20131223_6

Another bottle for the day!

20131223_7

20131223_8

20131223_9

20131223_a

Still lots of sweets available to choose from!
Full of good… wonderful foods for today.
Yes, it was just our Christmas.

And this is closing moment of extended weekend. Great time!

Obon Weekend (2)

Amazing enough, it was quite early bird.
I was up at 5:45am. Way too early!
Well, it was for one particular purpose.

20130817_1

Car wash!
Precious car deserves hand wash! So I did!

In the late afternoon, went to a theatre for checking this out:

WhiteHouseDown

White House Down - preview appeared to be pretty good!
This is opening day. Rare for me to do so promptly. Hahaha.

Was it good?
Story were like the first Die Hard movie.
Not bad.

Though, the story did have some flaw. NOT making sense to let the President alive for all the times.
Well, that doesn't matter… much.

20130817_2

Dinner started with sparkling!!!
My choice - Freuxenet.
Cheap bottle! (indeed)

Turned out home BBQ like.

20130817_3

20130817_4

Very good beef!!!
Made a wonderful choice for tonight.
Very full.

40th Birthday

Yes, many of readers coming by to read it all about me everyday (?) know...
It was my birthday. In fact, 40th. Yeah, big FORTY.
Time has really flew and still flying at even faster pace.

My last decade was the most dramatic period in my entire life.
At age 30, I was here in Japan, already. It was 2003.
It was the time for job change.

The company I was working for was acquired by major.
I felt like I should look for different yet better opportunity for developing my career.
So I went on.

The next job was totally different but opened my vision so much.
I gained so much different perspective toward how things work in organization.
This spontaneously became THE motive for studying even further.

Thunderbird MBA became one of the most precious treasure in my life.
Through the people from different corners of the world, learned alot.
To be frank, I learned more from people than from lecture / case study. Hahaha.

True, though.

MBA opened many different doors and I decided to take consulting career.
It is now longest career in my life.
I came to the most enjoyable job then.

During this decade, getting married is surely another milestone.
My life became much more entertainment.
Rather than living alone, MoonFlower and I make everyday life more fun.

I really appreciate that. She has been good partner since day one.
No complaints. Just hope that this keeps going. Happy

I saw many different worlds through the projects.
Many countries visited. Seems more to come. GREAT!

So today another decade just begins.
With tons of birthday wishes from different social medias and Internet,
I am very... very... (let me type this one more) very thankful!

Here is my big THANK-YOU!

Coworkers gave me a gift as a surprise.
It was of Japanese idol group AKB48 calendar pack.
They hoped me to be embarrassed to receive something kinky item.

Sorry, fellas. I liked it! Really. It was cool.

I think that there are two types of gifts for happiness.
One is obvious.
You get what you like to get... exactly what you really wanted.

The other one is a bit unique.
Something you like but you do not buy.
It'll be fun to have that; I yet hardly see the value worth spending own cash.

Making sense?

This box of gift is absolutely the latter one. GOOD!
Although, I didn't get a chance to open to check it out. Will do soon.
Back home from work quite late...

MoonFlower prepared some foods for me along with this:

R0019261

R0019263

Cool. My favorite. Half-size bottle is perfect. Happy

MoonFlower allowed me to use the champagne glasses. Totally rare yet special!
Fabulous!

Well, Japan's biggest holiday season is just ahead.
No big plan but holidays do not hurt! Winking
Let's finish it up tomorrow, quickly!

For closing, I thank you for all wishes sent to myself and even in your mind!

Another Collection Just In

After a month with friend's place - my (another) fountain pen is back!!!
Yes, it is being "perfectly customized just for me."
Friend runs his own nib-customization shop which brought a big fortune.

Nib can be anyway you like it.
This is 2nd request to him after Delta Dolce-Vita pen.

R0019220

This time, not new pen. One from my collection.
It is Cartier pen. Yes, expensive stuff for me. And the favorite.
Nib was medium - and requested to make it fine but italic.

R0019228

After received in mail, I refilled the ink right away!
Tried to write some words as experiment.
OH MY GOSH!!!

This is not longer merely pen. This is LUXURIOUS WRITING INSTRUMENT!!!
More than I previously imagined. Way too cool!!!
I cannot thank my friend Michael enough.

Due to this fashionable result of my pen customization, it is necessary to celebrate!
Hahaha.
No direct relation to dining event for our household… but just opened a bottle.

R0019222

Selection was of Italian Chianti.
MooonFlower is busy over the kitchen. Hard and lots of work!
(Yes, I am definitely quite thankful for that.)

R0019238

Ate too much in addition to drank to much. Hahaha.
Good Saturday night spending peaceful time with wifie.
Weather is not much cooperating… but need to find out way to have fun.

Home Drunker!

Good food really accelerates my drinking habit.
Wait, habit? Hahaha.
At least MoonFlower and I had several drinks over the food at home tonight.

Inamura Shozo

MoonFlower wanted to go to some gallery for her favorite crafts.
Well, we did get there… stayed there for a while… in vain.
She ended up buying nothing. Zero. Nada.

Hmmm. I really thought that she went there for a big shopping. Hahaha.
Maybe next time.

Then, we continued a little journey and came here.

20130309_1

"Patissier Inamura Shozo" - famous cake shop.
More than 20 people were in line outside. Must be really good!
Spent about 40 minutes waiting. Seriously.

20130309_2

Like hotel - there is a coordinator serving outside.
Must be really good!!! Hahaha.

R0018924

Cream puff - pretty good!

R0018936

This is THE famous. Strawberry roll.
Did I like it? Yes, I did.

R0018939

Montblanc - chestnut cake. Another good one.

Of cpurse, we still opened a bottle over supper tonight.
Italian wine. Chianti.

R0018925

La Galliana - reasonably priced at local grocery store.

R0018926

Not bad.

Along with supper, entertainment for the night was "Top Design" show.

TopDesign

Viewed by Hulu. MF was quite into this show.
20 episodes? Then we have to continue watching into tomorrow.

Day Trader?

Because I had time??? I stuck to the stock market which moved interestingly today.
Yeah, big volatility for sure.
It was because of new guy… Mr. Kuroda who is the nominee for next president of BOJ.

Yes, Bank of Japan.

He attended a meeting in the National Diet… it was about 10am.
Until then, the market was quite strong. Bull market.
After he made comments, the market went steady.

Actually, downward.

So I sold all around the peak.
At the same time, I took buying on margin because I knew that it would go down.

I knew? No. I guessed. Yep, I guessed it right.
Market went as I expected.
Thus, I can make money on both sides. WONDERFUL deal I made. Hehehe.

Fun is over. I cannot do such everyday. Lots of stress because of money deal.
I shouldn't pay attention to this much, either.
Though, things went very well at least today. NICE.

R0018911

Good dinner took place between two of us…
It was cold outside. Soup was a good choice. Great choice.
Made me warm and ready for good night sleep.

See ya!

Famous French Toast

Chasing after AWESOME French toast today!

R0018889

Cafe in Shinjuku… a place where MoonFlower has ever been to.
NOT me. It was my 1st visit… absolutely.

R0018890

LOOK!
They were FANTASTIC ones for me. Made me full quite easily.
Apple sauce was perfect match.

20130303

World's Fountain Pen Show in Nihonbashi.
NO purchase made, though.

R0018895

What we picked from shopping was this coaster.
Pretty cool.

R0018897

This wine… was VERY SWEET. Made me feel like drinking sweet wine.
However, interesting enough… this came along with Japanese food as supper tonight.

R0018902

R0018905

Then pasta.

R0018908

Sweet is home made by MoonFlower. WONDERFUL stuff.
Made me totally full… all day long. Hahaha.

Ink Flow Improvement

Some of my collection pens - fountain pens suffer from inconsistent ink flow.
Just like this -

R0018871

Ink stays above the air within the converter.
That is not right.
Ink becomes the wall to prevent the air intake. Ink does not flow at all.

I hate this symptom.

Some of my pens… happened to be 2 Visconti fountain pen face that issue.
Today, I cleaned the inside of converter.
After the cleaning, I refilled ink again to see if the same symptom still occurs.

It did. Made no difference. No improvement. What a shock!
Better get some drinks! Hahaha.

R0018874

Dinner with some drinks as per MoonFlower's recommendation.
Interesting shape of ice in my glass!

Polar bear ice it was!!! Cute, isn't it?
MF is so proud of this.
Good choice!

R0018876

Curry over rice - today's supper.

R0018882

Home-made cake followed.
This was very nice! MF learned how to make this today.
Good job!

One Last Supper at Home

One last dinner at home - last in this month for sure! Winking

Missed Who?

Received an envelop which was international airmail.

R0018794

It was a card like that!
From ex-client when I was consultant at previous company. Nice! Thank you!

"Me? Missed You?" on the surface,
"Only all the times." inside.
Funny. Liked it.

Haven't received any card like that for a long time.
In Japan, sending and receiving cards are not common practice… much.

In fact, it was a substitute new year greeting card.

Ex-client put her handwriting saying like
"Any chance coming over (to California where she lives for work)?"
"Love to see you and I like you to bring something from Japan for me"

Even more funnier. Hahaha.

R0018789

R0018793

Dinner was ready!
It was healthy udon bowl with salad.
Somehow MoonFlower didn't like salad dressing that was on the top.

She has more sensitive tongue than do I. Hahaha. True, though.

Good Stuff and Good News?

Not big supper… quite ordinary today.
Though, I came to find a pleasure since facing the small dish stuff that I love!
Actually, I asked MoonFlower to pick it up if she finds in the supar market.

R0018736

This is called…. I do not know. Hahaha.
Let me put it in this way… Japanese horse raddish.
Yeah, some kind of spicy stuff - perfect company to rice! (at least to me)

In Japanese, called "wasabi zuke."

R0018742

main dish for supper is this. Another Japanese dish.
Daikon & Ganmodoki.
Important point is no meat. Hehehe.

Yeah, I really have to watch what to eat.
Now I am quite keen to the calories intaking about every food putting in my mouse at any given meal.

Seriously.

R0018744

One paper AD caught my eye tonight.
Came from Yodobashi Camera - my "usual" electronic super store.
Now, Canon EOS 6D is on sale at reduced price!!!

Already! Yeah… just came out at the end of last November.
In this trend, I can see farther discount in next several months?
I would love to see that happens!!! Then, I can give myself (MoonFlower can give me?) a green light.

This is certainly good news. Happy Cannot wait.

So another weekend is ahead!!!

Big Snow Day in Tokyo! (Rare)

What a day!!!
Here in Tokyo, rare to see snow… yeah, snow flurries.
Today, totally exception.

You see TONS OF SNOW fallen!!!

20130114_1

This was the scene around 11am.
After that, snow lasted all day.
Lots of snow. Accumulated 10cm or 5 inches. NO KIDDING!

20130114_2

Thank God, it was National Holiday - Adult Day celebrating those who turn 20 years old.
Thus, no major traffic nightmare. I bet there were some…
Of course, I decided to stay warm home! Happy Good idea.

R0018713

Kept watching video from lots of special TV programs during the New Year.
Took MoonFlower and me a while to finish watching.
While doing so, idea came up… opening a bottle of wine. Hehehe.

R0018717

MoonFlower started preparation of Japanese dish called ODEN since this morning.
Tons of good stuff from ODEN made the dinner table very nice!
And I easily get drunk out of that. Hahaha.

R0018719

Not only ODEN dishes… but also…

R0018723

DESSERT! Made by MoonFlower. I am big fan of her home-made sweets.
Cannot resist. Hehehe.

Big snow day turned out to be "comfortable day" at home for sure.
Of course, thanks to MoonFlower. Yeah, I should be really thankful.
Especially, I forgot to help her to clean up… and went to bed straight.

1st Shopping in 2013!

1st major shopping day in year 2013 was just today… Hahaha.
I guess, the wallet of mine… the zipper is broken… now making ME broke!!!
Went out to Omotesando area for shopping with MoonFlower.

Usual shop where we both go… Brand called "Tsumori Chisato."
It carries very small quantity for men's… but I was lucky today.
Yet, 1st day of New Year Sale today. Winking

R0018534

Big coat for me!
Very cute color and design around the wrists.

R0018540

Pants. Other pants I have were almost all worn out… so need one. Hahaha.

R0018551

Extra - this is what MoonFlower bought for herself. Very girly skirts. Hahaha.

R0018545

No more heavy food celebrating New Year!
Just pasta and...

R0018549

salad!!!
Good stuff.
Need to be soft to my stomach for sure.

A Happy New Year 2013!

Happy-New-Year-2013

A Happy New Year 2013!!!
It is SNAKE year this time. Happy

IMG_0179

MoonFlower and I took bullet train bound for Nagoya.
Yes, going back to Ogaki!!!
Yeah visiting my parents for new year's greeting. Will spend a night there with them as usual.

R0018526

Mt. Fuji from the window of bullet train on the way to Ogaki.
Beautiful view, isn't it??? Fantastic New Year's Day for sure! Happy

20130101_01

Back in my home town Ogaki now.
Typical dinner on New Year's Day - SUKIYAKI or Japanese beef dish.
Too much good stuff.

Yes, I admit it… ate too much. Keep eating too much.
Will be back in Tokyo tomorrow night and fast is to begin! Hahaha.
I really should give it a shot???

Maybe!
