Chased by Typhoon!!!

Before talking about typhoon, I have to say big "thank-you" to two ladies.
Khun Tity and Khun Poon.
They showed up to the airport for farewell this morning.

It was quite early... like 6am.

Yossy and I were only the members took off today.
Everyone else yet remains around.
Those ladies are really kind for coming up just to say goodbye.

So nice of you for sure. Thank you!!!

Flight was totally okay.
No changes due to the weather, either.
Food was okay... hahaha.



Ate boiled rice. Better choice for me.
However, I didn't have much appetite.
Had more sleepiness then.

No movie watched completely.

All ones that I would be interested the most were previously watched.
Thus, I didn't pay much attention.

Arrived at Narita on time, 3:35pm.
In perfect timing, I caught airport shuttle bus!!!
I ran a little to the stop to catch the bus.

Very rare to run for me...

My main concern was of taxi at the bus stop...
Found three when bus was approaching to the stop.
I was quite lucky today.

Got a ride right away... made home around 5:40pm.
10 mins after that... big rain storm hit the area.
Surely from the typhoon.

I didn't get wet at all...
Perfectly worked out for me.
Quite lucky for sure.

Surely, rough and tough to get chasing by typhoon. Hahaha.

Anyway, HOME!!! Yes, I am HOME!!!

I know and you know that 30th is last day in Bangkok, Thailand…
Means that I won't have to come here often any more.
Maybe some exception.

Anyhow, that means I do not have to learn Thai language any more. Right?

Though, still continues.
From today, the lesson goes into Level 5.
Wait. Level 5 already? That fast?

Hmm.

Actually, just finished Level 2. Why not 3 and 4?
What has been missed?
According to teacher, not much missed.

Level 1 and 2 are good enough to move on because 3 and 4 help more vocabulary perspective.
Meaning I should not worry too much.
Instead, Level 5 has significant difference.

WRITING and READING!

Yeah, Thai writing. Scary.
Though, time remaining is very limited. How in the world to manage it all??? Probably not.
My approach is "do as much until then."

So paid 300 baht for new text book! Hahaha.

Not difficult… but EXTREMELY difficult!!!

Lower the expectation - is the name of corner in "MadTV" program… so I remember.
Hahaha.
Too bad… I just came to know that MadTV was no longer on FOX.

Compared to Saturday Night Live - it was much easier for me to understand… hahaha.
Was good memory of my past living in US for sure.

Anyhow, lowering the expectation may be the key for me to resolve / cancel the stress from the work.
Yeah, I should NOT expect too much from serious work.
Maybe I can do easy job…

"Fuzzy" can be suitable alternative to seriousness in this particular work. Hahaha.
Yeah, maybe.

Client may come "out of box."
If I think pretty much logically from the all previous steps of the project milestone…
I easily get lost in the middle of nowhere… hardly finish the job forever.

You know what I mean.

Thus, it is wise not to expect too much out of what I (we) do.
See how things are really going down.
Yet, time is limited. Let it flow. Hahaha.

Instead of going out, I watched TV and video home.
I even opened the bottle of Maker's Mark and poured some into glass.
Yeah, made me feel relaxed with some drinks.

Maybe this is last time for me to play golf in Thailand…
Since this is LAST SEASON in BKK… as far as things are concerned for time being. Hahaha.

Woke up at 5am and went to Pleasant Valley Golf and Country Club.
1st visit for me, of course.
This is 4th round for me in this year.

Last time was back in April. Remember?

Today's pick was of new movie - "Total Recall."
This became 16th movie (watched in theater) in this year!!!
Cool.

This is SF-ish movie. Lots of CG's.
I like the setting a lot.
Very vivid idea was the base for the storyline.

Recommended.

Setting like:
Only UK and Australia were in exist in future (all others were vanished!)
Australia was, once again, colonized by UK.
Traveling between those two were not by air or ocean… under earth!

These are some of those "surprising" ideas that I really liked about.

As usual… I head to the Thai school for lesson.
Teacher told me that I looked so sleepy.

Sure, I was! Just after long drinking streak, right? No wonder.

Finished Session 11 & 12 of Level 2 today. Became smarter than yesterday. Hahaha.

1st thing after Thai lesson was to exchange some money… need local currency to live.
Good rate is provided at local liquor shop like:



Thaniya Spirit is one of the most famous places for Japanese to exchange.
Very good rate. Much better than one at ordinary banks. Hahaha.

10,000 yen turns to be 4,010 baht in today's rate. Pretty good!!!
Now my budget for Season 7 is all available in baht. Hehehe.

Bantman "The Dark Knight Rises."

Long movie… almost 3-hour long.
Though, This was very good movie. Impressive.
Not only of Ann Hathaway's slender body as Cat Woman. Hehehe.

You'd better see this even if not seen any of series. Worth it for sure.

Practically 1st day for Season 7.
In the morning, I went to Labor Department for visa-related processing.

Didn't take too long.
By 11am, back in the Project Room.
Several status-checking then. Quickly done.



In the afternoon, long session took place before me.
It was not my direct-involvement event. Peace with me.
Though, I kept questioning about the productivity for process step review like that.

Hahaha. Must be Thai way. Really.

After work, hit the road to Soi 31 tonight. Destination was Italian restaurant.

It was Thai.
Unusual for me to eat Thai during the weekend! Hahaha.

Darn cheap! Only 45 Baht. Gosh… I usually pay over 200 Baht per meal!

At night… home drinking…
Started with wine cooler and followed by bourbon whiskey - I go with straight. Hehehe.

Project members were up to Mahjong after work.
Yeah, big Friday night entertainment / game among us.
Four of us spent time over the game for decent hours… like 5 hours?



The place is really for Japanese customer-only.
Not really crowded, though.



It was first time for me to play game in over 10 years!!!
Plus, absolutely 1st time to play on the automatic Mahjong table ever.

Came to a big loss… I was at last place after all.

Loss of 2,000 baht. Seriously!!!
Big loss for me like I usually do not carry more than 1,000 baht.
Hahaha.

After work… didn't plan to have big dinner…

Weekend is now coming to an end…
Not much accomplished today. Except that I went to see a movie.



The Amazing Spiderman.
Amazing, right? It should have been.

Though, story wasn't that exciting and amazing to me.
Maybe because I saw it in 2D instead of 3D.
Value of entertainment was different, I guess.

Though, I feel like if Peter Parker didn't do anything…
Nothing really happened. Nobody was really killed. Hahaha.
I've said enough.



Lamborghini was in the showcase at the mall where I watched the movie.
Wow, someone happened to be come by and would buy this???
I do not think so!

If rich person crazy about super car like that, he would have to know of such great car in the mall for other shopping purpose.
At least good promotion, right? Hahaha.

CHANGE the carpet to other color… red or yellow… whatever!
Black body on black carpet… NO CONTRAST!

Flight was EASY! Look, not many people on board.
Probably around 10-15% of the capacity. Really.



Had 2 cups of wine… they really knocked me down. Easily.



Watch for Season 6 - is this one. Changed from Season 5.



In-flight meal was chicken curry. Not that tasty… I didn't even finished the dish.



After arrival, had business meeting and dinner followed.



Looks like pure Japanese tavern.



Total atmosphere were Japanese. Really.

Not 100% of customers were Japanese.

Airport - came late and took some time in emigration process… hahaha.
So hungry… quickly grabbed something to eat. No shopping.

TG flight for Narita… seated at 32C today.



Wrong choice… this dish was not good at all. Too bad.



"This Means War" was available… watched.

Finally came back to Japan. Arrived at Narita around 4pm.
MIssed the bus for the hour and I waited for next one at 5pm.

Finally home a little before 7pm. Tired.

MoonFlower had to work overtime today and came home at 9pm.
Then, I came to supper, finally. Hahaha.



Sashimi dish for tonight. SO GOOD!
Fresh fish is something i usually cannot come to in Bangkok.
Good stuff.

Some beer came along. Even perfect. Hehehe.
Tomorrow, I most likely stay at home for relax… resume working on Friday.

Last day in Bangkok as far as Season 5 goes. Hahaha.
Surprise really hit the project room this morning.

I personally didn't expect it to happen… but it did! Hahaha.

Lots of DOs for today… and I was quite busy like yesterday.

After work, I went to Thai class.
I met new teacher today… 2nd teacher for me.
Now I should push my study back on track… like used to be.

Thus, I try to have more opportunities… periodically.
So from Season 6, 2 teachers for me to learn Thai language.
Good deal? Hope so.

Relaxing Sunday (pak pon wan aathit) is just over.
I practically didn't do anything fun.

Studied some Thai… particularly writing.
Yeah, am getting into some of that.
Hard to understand.

Difficult to combine the consonant with vowel and accent.

Wish me luck… I put some efforts to make it happen.
Make what happen? Hahaha.

Since Thai is triple byte language… (true!) each letter of Thai word is small!!!
For some old man like me, hard to read on PC monitor.
If you know of this language, you know what I am talking about.

Movie "Prometheus" was on my next list… today I didn't go.
Meaning, postponing to the Season 6 which starts on June 27th.
Yeah, that movie doesn't come to Japan until August. Hahaha.

Wish me luck… I am still not sure how far I can go… will see.

Today, my last Thai lesson in this period as well.
Yeah, no hangover from previous night for sure! Hahaha.

Woke up around 8am and went to school at 11am.

Today's Thai class seemed reasonably understood. Better than usual, somehow.

Same material, same methodology by same teacher… different motivation? I do not know.
Anyhow, better understanding of Thai language is definitely plus to my current life.
I'd better not complain.

Went into McDonald's for lunch. Wanted cheeseburger badly. Paid 99 baht for a set.
Went on to Starbucks which is located just next door.
This time, it was for hot latte.

Somehow, this Starbucks in Silom wasn't always crowded.
au bon pain coffee located across the street is always full of customers.
Interesting contrast. Hahaha.

Anyway, studied a little in there and decided to go to movie.
Yes, movie!

Today's selection was "Snow White and Huntsman."



Really thought that it was of standard Snow White story.
It was quite not. Hahaha.

Loved the part about the evil character's transformation of beauty as a result of sucking all energies from young ladies.
Charlize Theron was a perfect character doing such.
Her beauty's recovery process was quite impressive.

If you missed this part, you are almost same as didn't go to see this movie.
You see what I mean? This is MUST part.

Otherwise, you do not miss much


Mr. Shake's drink was grabbed after the movie.
It has tapioca in it. I love it. Drink itself was okay - TOO SWEET.
I like tapioca for sure.

I probably try another drink with tapioca next time. Something not sweet at all.







For dinner - was a bit crazy… lots of drinks and foods with tons of fun topics to cover with friend.
Fun night came along with full stomach. Good deal.

Okay… for me not yet… but for others… yes, it was LAST DAY of Season 5.
Tomorrow, majority of team members hit back to Japan.
Project Manager and I have to stay for attending Board Meeting. Darn it.

Season finale took place at Wine Republic.





Very expensive place… I was quite surprised.
Usual destination - Wine Connection is much much reasonable.

After work, another work was assigned. Had to go to hospital for medical check.
Yeah, required for visa.

Today's my relaxation… was of laugh out of the movie.

In the morning, washed dirty clothes and had blanch (alone) at favorite "au bon pain."
Then, rushed into the Emporium - shopping mall for movie.
Yeah, MiB3 - Men in Black III.



I didn't want to miss this out. I knew that this movie would easily go away soon.
So nice to catch the movie I wanted to see. Right? I know.

It was pretty cool movie. Surely, not the best… but pretty good!
I do not care much of ugly creatures but surely care about the funny conversation.
I was really into it.

Just curious how it all would be translated into Japanese language at all. Hahaha.

Another movie on my "Do Not MIss" - "Snow White and the Huntsman."
Will check it out next week… before going home!



Italian wine festival was in progress. I dropped by.
Nice bottles were all over the place!
From 300 baht and all up.

I could've bought some for myself… but didn't do so today.
Maybe I should have.

Though, some study and some work… at least today.

You may not recall… but I still learn Thai.
Today I had a class for the 1st time in long time.
Actually 1st class in this Season 5. Really.

It was not because of me but because of teacher.
My teacher is being quite busy for many classes and couldn't afford her time for me to have like 2-3 times a week.
Now the frequency is down to once a week.

Understand, not good enough. Will catch up.

I am not quite up to switching instructor yet. Will see how two of us can accommodate lessons more.

Good to learn from good teacher for sure.

I should look for more solid / concrete goal to learn Thai, too.

After long wait… joined team meeting in late afternoon.
Long day today. Tired.
Maybe I can have relaxing time tomorrow.

Went early… at 8:30 for work.
Yes, you can call me, Workaholic. Hahaha.
Soon as arrived, serious meeting took place… WITHOUT me.



I was along in the project room!!!
So sad… so lonely. Hahaha.

No… not that serious. It was of other track's meeting. Not my part. Simple is that. Hahaha.

One last class at Thai-Nichi Technology of Institute.
Actually, it is already last class of "Japanese Business Consulting" today.
Yeah, after all those. Hehehe.



Now after my class, lots of familiar faces. Boys and girls!



Aajan Hosoya was the lead of today's class.
He gave me that opportunity to teach those talented Thai students. I had so much fun with them!



Final presentation by team… I had to evaluate per presentation material and presentation itself.
Tough to judge!!!
They were really awesome. No big difference in their efforts. So precious for sure.



Some were so eager to be ready for their own.
Some others were curious of other teams.



After all 6 teams presented, individual wrap-up took place. Includes instructors.
Yeah, I had to say something!

3 things learnt in class and comments about the class.

Those Thai students in this class has:
-good basic (English) skills
-good mental to speak up
-good environment (to learn something new like this class subject)

I just reminded them of those three things as my comment.
Thus, they should be confident to study even harder for future success.

Hi folks. What's up? Just done Tuesday… another 4 days to go. Oh boy.
Couple of things really irritated me today… but okay… some stress, though.
All day long… different kinds of meetings took place. Thank God, all were okay.

For dinner, I went out along with colleagues because we had some guests from Japan.
I was kind of late due to work and one was already gone back to the airport. Gosh! I wanted to see her!

Anyhow, showed up to Vienchan Kitchen located in Tong Lo area.



Restaurant with entertainment stage… obviously for tourists' place.
In fact, this was 2nd time visit for me. My friend took me over here long time ago.
Now I know where this place is. Hahaha.

Khun Yasu surely joined. He couldn't resist… raised his hand for participation. Hahaha.



Aajan Hosoya followed. He had to get the touch of exotic Thai taste since teaching Thai students. Hahaha.

He widely smiled since holding cute girl's hands like that.. Indeed joy.

Good dinner… seemed a bit expensive. But I was treated! Thank you!

Day 1 - back to normal??? Resumed all project work for today…
Everything was flat… NOT SO FAST, folks. Things were not flat at all.
Better look around to seek for best alternative or whatever may be suitable… hahaha.

Project is in the middle of nowhere… it's up to us how to handle and which direction to go to. Hahaha.



Lunch is also back to normal. Cost me only 35 baht. Meaning only about 1 dollar or so.
1 dollar… yes, I mean 1 US DOLLAR. In Japanese yen, it's a matter of 85 yen.

Good saving… good food still, though.

At least I should deserve one good thing everyday! Hahaha.

Plus, I received an email from my immediate boss about the result of performance review recently done.
GOSH… in email???

Good thing was that it was the time I was drinking and eating with team members.
I was quite "numb" to whatever may be from him. Hahaha.
Good way to handle bitter things, right?

It is done deal. It is all about the past. Let's move on… need to move forward.
No alternative… just need to push the current project far as possible.

Clear sky for nice flight!
Airport was very crowded… particularly at Thai Airways counters. Hmmm.
Took me a while to get check-in done.



Saw this old air fleet aka "Jumbo."



Old fleet means that NOT state-of-art equipment except colorful seat covers!
One big screen up front.
No seat-in-monitor for individual passenger.

Sucks!



And flight was full.
No beautiful lady passenger right next to me. It was a man.





Pork curry was my choice. Nothing new to me any longer. Hahaha.
The other choice could be of chicken. That is too - I know of the dish.

No excitement on the flight back to Bangkok.
Maybe 5th time really made me use to how things are in this country. Hahaha.

It was TG676 Bangkok for Narita. Today's flight was just like others… packed!
I sat in 26C - first row in the Coach Class.
My view was just like this.



Yeah, I faced the aisle of Business Class.
Heavy traffic kept me irritated! Hahaha.



Food was okay. I selected Okayu dish.
Didn't choose the omulet. Made right choice, though.



Such early flight didn't let me enjoy much since I mostly sleep in the flight.
Not major movies watched. Really.

Took airport bus and taxi to come home. I arrived around 6pm.
Long day… didn't do anything except moving from Bangkok to Tokyo…
It all made me quite tired. Fell to a sleep quickly at home.

Around 9pm, MoonFlower finally finished her overtime and came home.
Went out to dine for two of us tonight.
To new restaurant… we haven't been to. Called "Kashi Kashi."

It was quite good foods! Variety of food on the menu is still limited. Good taste, though.
Tomorrow I will take a day off for relax. Just as needed.

Finally came to the last day in Bangkok as far as the "Season 4" goes here.
Hahaha… season 4… means we have 5 to come up? That's exactly what will be happening soon!
Anyhow, I was busy on this last day for internal meetings.

After word, didn't spend much time with colleagues tonight.
I had an appointment. Yes, "phom mii nat leaw na."
My friend Tetsu - came over to Bangkok for business meetings.

So I went up to see him for dinner and some drinks.
He came along with his female colleague. Thus, three of us went to Thai restaurant in Ekkamai - Thong Lo area.
Quite good chicken BBQ! Ate too much. Hahaha.

Too bad that I "forgot" to take pictures tonight.
No proof.. but certainly I was with them! Hahaha.

Now I'd better start packing for going back to Japan…

Okay… only one day to go… tomorrow is the last day that I stay in Bangkok this time.
I will fly back to Japan on Thursday then.
When to be returned? Am I truly going to? NOT sure… it's up to my firm.

Anyhow, big surprise was under way… which I had no idea.



This phone strap was given to me today… from a female student of the class I taught last week.
Really?
Yeah really.

Important point… two things.

1st - She noticed of my nickname in addition to full name. In class I told them my full name… so she must check out my profile in the document which has nickname. Cool.
2nd - There are more than several instructors for the class… but it seems be that I am only one coming to get one.

Oh boy, I have secret admirer? Hahaha.
Not secret because I know who she is.
Then the question is whether she is serious? Hahaha. Doesn't matter. I am married. Hehehe.

At least I feel good about what I have done teaching the class.
Great experience for sure.

So I can tell that I have some fan in Bangkok. Good, huh!





Dinner took place at Germany restaurant called "Bei Otto" located on Soi 20.
It was team dinner… since coming to an end of Season 4. Yeah 30 day stay in Bangkok!
It was quite successful. At least I can say so…

Today we passed the exam given by the board members of client.
So now we are so relieved for sure. You know what I mean?
So relaxed now.

Tomorrow another and last working day in Bangkok then hit back to Japan day after tomorrow!
Cannot wait!

Woke up quite early… don't know why.
Maybe I am getting old. Hahaha.
Good thing about getting up so easy today was that I came to see my favorite actress coming on TV show live.







Manami Higa is my favorite for sure.
Rare to see her in live show… so it made me quite happy to come to see this!

Yeah, Johnny Depp movie… Another movie by Tim Burton.
Dark Shadows it was.
Well, I heard that this movie was re-make of old TV series. Is that true?

Anyhow, I love the jokes that were from time difference of 2 centuries. Hahaha.
Perfect jokes by Johnny Deep.
The story was not that well written, I thought. Though, it was fun entertainment overall.

Not that disappointing for sure. Hahaha.

And went to Central Department store for this:

Sky blue - I selected. Almost chose the gold… hahaha.

I just need to make my luggage lighter than before.
I always used large suitcase for short period of time.
This time that I fly back to Japan on coming Thursday, I shall have less pain from heavy laguage!

Usual Saturday, I went to Thai lesson. Now I come to study how to write some letters.
Oh boy… it is freaking complex!!!
Combining con sonnet with vowel… and, on top of that, you have to add tone sign.

It is simply called "complex" or rather "crazy!" Hahaha.

So I have to practice. My Thai teacher gave me lots of homework while I am still busy for project!!!

Nowadays, project team members stay at client's office late… almost every night.
Tonight - Friday night wasn't exception.
We had to review some material and discussed project plan for coming weeks.

Anyhow after long Friday… Shiro and Yossy decided to stop by to hit some balls.
I simply followed them.



Shiro is good at golf… perfect for Yossy who is now bring to start golf.

I practiced some shots… but I am old as you know. My shoulders immediately aching!!!
The number of balls I hit… was around 10 or so. That was enough. Hahaha.

I am away from playing golf…
Though Yossy and Koji play golf now… then it would be really fun for all team members to play golf together.
Then I definitely join.

It was definitely fun experience to me.
I came to be lecturer of class at Thai-Nichi Technology of Institute today.
From 9am to noon for 3 hours… it was my SHOW. Hahaha.

I was quite nervous, though.
Because of previous class - Accounting when students showed much difficulty keeping up with the subject, I was quite concerned whether they could keep up and show some kind of sign for being interested.

My worry didn't need to last as far as today's class went.



Maybe I did a good job. Hahaha.



There were lots of smiles and laughs in the class.
3 hours seemed very quick and short.



Students never lost the intension listening up today. Thank you!!!
I am quite happy with how it went.










So everything went as pretty much planned.
All slides for the class were used as well.
My past weekend for the preparation is well paid off!!!



So I came to a big lunch after class. My reward. Hahaha.

Thursday… this week!

I continuously working on the presentation material from previous night.
I decided to have single entertainment for myself today.
I went to nearby shopping mall to watch a movie.

Got there around 11:30am after my breakfast coffee.



No more Avengers. No more Battleship.
Today, "Lock Out."
I pretty much liked the preview.

However, the preview wasn't reflecting the story quite well.
I bet that so many viewers has same thought as mine.

Though, it was quite entertainment… lots of American jokes that you can laugh at.
Seriously. Lots of black jokes that many people cannot resist. Hahaha.
I liked that part a lot!

Story was quite flat…
Some American outlaw spy rescuing President's daughter.
Quite contrast, huh.

Story came to a big flip-over at the end. Though, not big surprise to me. Hahaha.
I am so used to the way American movies are.
Do you see what I am getting at?

Anyhow, still good entertainment. Fun for sure.

Costed me 240 baths. A bit more than last those two movies.
Different place, different admission fee? Yeah. Interesting.
Japan, the movie is always same price regardless to where you go. (almost)

It was quite important day because the opening of "the Avengers."
Yeah, long-waited American hero movie! Hahaha.



Since it was "wan yut (holiday)" here in Bangkok… tons of people came to theatre before me!!!
Long line it was for getting ticket.
Timing-wise, we selected normal movie, not 3-D version. I do not care much.

Do you?



"The Avengers" was fantastic American entertainment for sure.
However, if Iron Man were not part of the team, it would be not fun as much for sure.

I wouldn't even come to see that movie. Would you? Hahaha.

This movie seems to be only the beginning of the series because more than half of the movie spent "team building" among heroes. It means there is more to come.

Also, missing someone??? From Marvel???
Yeah, Spiderman. Will he be part of this??? Will see.

Also am wondering that there is no continuation of "Iron Man (3)" anywhere?
If no more, I'll get disappointed very much.
Anyway, fun day with fun entertainment. Just good for me.

It was long day for me.
Yes, I worked today… Thailand has no Golden Week… too bad!!! Hahaha.
Plus, it was quite important day because of important meetings took place.

I spoke too much in the meeting today.
Plus, I was quite frustrated and upset. Yes, I admit it.
I probably spoke more than needed to.

I regret a bit.

My anger stole quite of energy for sure.
Thai teacher made a remark in today's lesson that I seemed to be quite tired.
That was true!!!



Joined the team dinner at the apartment of one of the members tonight.
I finished the Thai lesson and ate alone… then joined. Quite late… 9pm or 9:30pm.

Though, that team gathering didn't conclude early… rather continued on and on.
Some serious talk mixed with fun topics… lots of smiles and laughs.
Thus, we started beer and more on whiskey afterwards. Hahaha.

Quite festivity among team members! Good team building, too!!!

I've never said that this would last long like 2:30am or so. I've never said it. Hehehe.

Finally, I came to a chance to see this movie.
I know I didn't want to miss this one.

"Battleship"



Lots of CGs…
The story was quite easy entertainment with some laughs.
You could tell about the whole story by watching first 30-40 minutes.

However, action scenes (combat scenes) are quire impressive. Worth to watch for fun.
Just a question regarding to the setting of alien.
Hahaha.

I didn't know that there was a famous Japanese actor was in the movie.
It was Tadanobu Asano.
He did the important role - having a partnership (rivalry?) to the main character.

Tadanobu spoke quite good English, too.
Though, I still question if he comes to a big success in Hollywood like Ken Watanabe.
Biggest difference is not of language issue. It is matter of the appearance. Looks.

Tadanobu's face is very plain. With bunch of Asian extra - he easily mingles with them… not coming to the surface vividly.
That is why I am thinking that it would be hard for him to make a fortune in US. Hehehe.

This movie is intended for American audience only. Hahaha.
Navy needs to recruit more people… that is why.
One Navy can save the whole world! Hahaha.

While GW continues in Japan, I should get back to work tomorrow.

Woke up around 8am. Amazing enough because my clock set off at 8:30am.
I even went bed around 2am last night.
Being gadget lover really gives something to my instinct… that was why woke up earlier. Hahaha.

Dry clueing stuff is gone.
Washed my clothes.
Transferred lots of photos and other data to my new iPad…

Then, took it with me to Rain Hill.
Very close to where I live…
Needed to have something to eat in addition to playing with iPad.



au bon pain is my usual destination for Saturday lunch or coffee.
2nd visit to this particular au bon pain, though. Hahaha.
If you cannot locate me in apartment over weekend, should check this place to see if I am there.

I, immediately after work today, went out to MBK. Famous electronic shopping mall in Bangkok.

The answer was no. "Not received for today. In 3 days."

Yes, this is Thailand. No surprise for such incident. Minor stuff.

I won't easily give up on that… so went to next candidate.

iStudio - the Thai's biggest Apple deal in the country.
iStudio at Siam Center… not too far from MBK.
Yes, they had it.

64GIG 4G WHITE was my choice.

Actually, my coworker "requested" (translated as "forced") me to buy one more for him.
Thus, I ended up getting two at a time.
Of course, VAT refund document was completed. Don't leave Thailand without it!

Retina display is a big change in specification. Though, to me, the camera-equipped is another major difference.

I have been to foot massage once in February or March… none other than that.

Kind of hesitation to the oil and entire body to be massaged.
It was not bad at all.
Though, I felt a bit awkward about the fact that I had to be naked… entirely. Oops.

As one day before my birthday, I came to some surprises.

I was called upon to be one on one with some client.
The secretary came to our project room and I was told to come with her ALONE.
I had to sit in the middle of nowhere… totally intimidated by surrounding.

Gosh… what a surprise! It was quite scary. Hahaha. I truly held my note pad with pen for serious meeting.
Yes, you all really got me!
Plus, they brought a nice ice cream cake.

Had another Thai lesson tonight. Yes, 2 nights in a row.
After the session, my Thai teacher Si gave me a card and some gift. It was a nice wallet.

Today started working at 7am due to conference call to Japan.
Though, turned out to be all in vain. Unfortunately.
Of course, I wasn't happy about it.

It was not my fault, though.

Late morning, I showed up to the office and started working on project and other stuff.
No major meetings scheduled today. Thus, it was quite calm for me.
Though, time still flies fast.

At 6:30pm it was time for me to resume Thai lessons.
Yes, from today!

Though, as you can imagine, I forgot it all!!! I didn't study Thai at all while was in Japan.
Yes, my fault about that. Hehehe.

I even open the Chapter 14 when my teacher told me to go to Chapter 20.

See, I cannot even recognize the numbers… this was the true proof that I totally forgot!
The fault is mine… yes, I admit it.

After the lesson, I came straight home.
I wanted to eat some instant food home tonight.
Well, it was quite in vain… thinking about that plan.

Tons of ants were found around the kitchen. Oh boy!

My appetite disappeared instantly for sure.
Only ate small bread with water. That was enough for tonight.

I will definitely request the pest control tomorrow.
No one really likes termites for sure.

1st night spent at new apartment. Was okay. Not much occurrence. Hehehe.
All boxes are finally unpacked.
Not perfectly organized. Though, things are handy around me now.

Late afternoon, I went outside. Under very hot weather.



Now I have to walk this road every morning for work and study…
I have to get sweat so much while walking because of the location of the apartment.
Not so close to any BTS station.

Oh boy… this is very discouraging… indeed.

Went to nearby shopping mall called Emporium. First visit. Very luxurious place. Everything was expensive.

Went in to the Cartier shop for asking of the leather band for my watch.
No stock in Thailand.

"Please buy when visiting either Singapore or Hong Kong."

I was literally told that by shop clerk. Really? Really!
Interesting way of doing the businesses here.
SIngapore or Hong Kong… they are another countries!

Probably for Thai people, it is common to say so??? That easy to get those places??? Hmmm.

Today's agenda… worked in the office, not the project site yet.
Project is to resume from next week. Therefore, project members got together in the office for internal meeting.
Yeah, we had to organize the idea and action plans for coming to consent among ourselves.

Productive? It was okay, i guess. Hehehe.

Today the 20th of month - pay day! Yes, money is now wire transferred to my bank account.
Then, I have to withdraw some (lots of) money for home loan payment.
Plus, MoonFlower's allowance, mine… on top of base household spending for foods, etc.

Still expediter is the same while I am away from the country?
The answer is yes. Unfortunately. Very unfortunately.
You know, living outside the country doesn't come easy.

In a matter of fact, my living cost is much more than expected originally.
Then, my monthly allowance doesn't come to cover everything needed in Bangkok.
It is mainly because of weekend's spending like golf and social gathering (e.g. drinking).

Thus, no more golfing for a while!
I will have better control about the budget.
Will see how it goes.



After work, we had an extra inning! Meeting? Sort of… but not quite!

Main project in Bangkok will be officially resumed from coming Monday.
Today, I visited the university in Bangkok along with coworkers.

Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology.



Fairly new university founded for educating Japanese way of businesses to Thai youngsters.
Now, our firm opens a class "Japanese Business Consulting."



This is given by Shinzo Abe - Japan's Prime Minister in the past.
Meaning that this institute is well recognized by my country???



31 students are currently enrolling in the class.
Today - 1st session is for orientation, introduction of instructors and team assignment, etc.

Thai students were seemed quite shy. More than Japanese…

I give my presentation for 15 minutes or so.
Including introduction of myself and things I found in Thailand - different from what I know of my country.

All conducted in English. Maybe (surely?) I spoke TOO FAST.
It is my next mission that I speak as slow as possible… tough to do!

Anyhow, my "Presentation / Writing" class is scheduled in 2 weeks.
Until then, I have to develop the content of the class… and create class material… on top of usual project work.
Oh boy…

Started with Interview to the President.
Dealing with USD 700 million (revenue) company, it was very interesting to communicate such a fellow.

2 sessions with him must be memorial to my life and big milestone in my career as well.

Followed by numerous interview sessions.
All Executive Vice President of respective business divisions…
and all business unites managers and head of operations…

Long 30 days, huh? Sure thing!

I learned a lot not only about the corporate structure and business model but also-

corporate culture
management issues
Thailand's business practices, etc.

Isn't this a great learning opportunity for me? Yeah, surely it is!
I love it!

So far so good in making progress about this project, which I am quite content about.

Now 2 week "suspension."
Thailand is coming to a New Year holiday in its calendar and, as the client's favor, we have a short break.
Oh, I love this part as well. Hahaha.

Thus, today is last day for me to be in BKK on this trip.
Of course, I will be back here when resuming the work.

To be precise, I will fly back here on 17th. Work resumes on 23rd.

Today, the usual at the final week in Bangkok every time… it is my routine that I play golf with friends.
Yes, it was for event of the day.

My expectation was even raised from there. Hahaha.

Remember that I started going to Thai language school from January 24th?
Yeah, I keep studying Thai as much as I can since then.
Well, except 1 week - that I went back to Japan.

Now am about to use up all class tickets.
Originally I bought 21 time slot. 1 class is consisted from 2 slot (45 mins x 2 slot).
Means that I went to school about 10 times so far.

What shall I do?
Continues?
Not cheap, though.

21 class is about 200 dollars.
However, I like the language so far and it helps my project work since Thai people likes to find out that we, the foreigners, try to learn this unique (and minor!) language. Hahaha.

I definitely continues!
So I bought another 21 slots for the same price.
You know what? Came along with 2 extra free time slots.

Good deal.
Plus, I should be careful about ROI.
I should not waste money by not making enough efforts to master the language.

Yes, I will do study as much!

It was a long meeting took place in this afternoon.
It made me go to Thai class late.

Means, I am sorry that I am late.
Yeah, had to tell so to my Thai teacher (this is private lesson).

Tonight, I learned about how to tell time.
Well, it's not as simple as English or Spanish.
Time expression obviously got influenced by some culture or even religion.

Thai is indeed Buddhist country.

Interesting expression about time in Thai… is from 7pm till 11pm.

You cannot use figure 7 to 11 to express those. Seriously.
Instead of those figures, you have to count from 1 again.

7pm - 1 night hour said in Thai - "1 thum"
8pm - 2 night hour said in Thai - "2 thum"
9pm - 3 night hour said in Thai - "3 thum"
10pm - 4 night hour said in Thai - "4 thum"
11pm - 5 night hour said in Thai - "5 thum"

Those 5 hour expressions are the exceptions.
Otherwise, you can use same numeric expression. Makes sense?

Thai is interesting and unique language.
I am yet eager to learn so much and I will continue as long as possible!
Constraint is of the budget that I can take Thai classes… maybe. Hehehe.

This movie comes with English subtitle. Sounds wonderful.



Movie title, "ATM." It was comedy. Lots of exaggeration. But surely it was fun for me.
Made me laugh so much and so often.

It was only 180 baht. 4-5 bucks. Way cheaper than Japan for sure.

It was funny with lovely ending. Good thing was that I didn't have to spend time reading the lines.
Story was quite obvious. Hehehe.



Finally got a chance to take a local bus.
Wild ride it was… Hahaha.

Lots of nice music… mostly Thai traditional.

Another big surprise… the event was dual language-base. English and Thai.

It's Saturday!!! (Wanni wansau!!!)
As usual, I went to school for Thai language lesson.

Of course, I took care of laundry and other miscellaneous matters home.



Lesson went with no problem… except…
Surprise quiz was given!



1st half was choosing right answer from 2 alternatives.
2nd half was of composing the answer to the given questions.

There were 10 questions. Oh boy.

This quiz didn't end upon finishing the all questions.
Teacher asked me to read each question and my answer at loud.
Then I had to explain what it means in English.

Gee, this quiz was full course quiz! Hahaha.

Well, thank God, I was okay upon being given A.

Thereafter, I went to Nana Station to get together with my colleagues.
I came down there to help them to move in to new apartment. They are no longer allowed to stay in hotel because, like me, they're expected to "live" in Bangkok for a while.

Probably another 3-4 months. SERIOUSLY!

Lasagna! It was my wonderful choice of the night!



Sweet was awesome!

Some entertainment followed immediately after that restaurant.
Perfect night for me and other friends seemed to have fun WAY much more than me. Hahaha.

Another day… actually 2nd day at the client's site.
Our counterpart was quite busy… and so were other people.
Though, we're patiently waiting for whatever available to us.



Today's lunch was once again Thai!!!



A bit spicy… but tasty!!!



It was a great walking home (at least to the nearest station) since we did a great job!
The meeting scheduled was quite positive and we made our task completed as planned.
Plus, internal discussion was quite deep to have good insight.

More and more to come… things are getting better and better for setting a big project with a client!
From today, I go to project place, directly, from the apartment.

It was only 10 minute way to get the firm's office in Bangkok.
Now takes me about whole hour to get the client's site.
On top of that, I have to WALK for 10-15 minutes under Thai's heat climate!



Lots of street shops. Some of them looked really good!
Project coordinator arranged team's lunch in the cafeteria.

Long line made there… since our order was taken in advance, we didn't have to wait.
Plus, the table was RESERVED.
Oh boy, they treat us like customer here...



Thai food. It was VERY GOOD. More than expected.
Probably really reasonable as well since it is company-supported cafeteria.

We had a team dinner over Thai's famous Thai Suki bowl dinner tonight.





You can throw in pretty much any vegetable, meat, and seafood.
No order in particular.
Then, you finish it with noodle in there.

Many people (tonight we had 8 people around the bowl) can eat together at one table.
Great social setting!
Beer followed by wine… some (lots?) alcohol for us. Hahaha.

NO WONDER creasy night continued even after that!

It didn't take me even 15 minutes to finish check-in, though.

It was all pretty good! Reasonable as well!
Found good place to eat from apartment.
Man, day one in Bangkok was darn productive!!! Hehehe.

Car ride at 5:30am… it was quite early for me to get to the airport.

Flight was flat and normal except delay for 30 mins or so.
Good thing happened to me… I could occupy the whole row since two passengers were re-assigned to somewhere else soon after boarding.

I sat in the mid-seat and used both empty seats for my space. Cool!

Because of lack of sleep last night (too much wine drank, though), I fell to a sleep in the flight.
I didn't even enjoy in-flight movie much!

"Money Ball" was previously watched.
"Real Steel" doesn't seem to be so interesting…

I started seeing "I don't know how she does it."
Was it really good movie?
Didn't interest me enough and I fell to a sleep. I don't even remember of the story at all.
Hahaha.

Back in Japan…
MoonFlower and I got together outside for dinner.
She worked late and I didn't want her to spend extra energy fixing supper for two. It was surely Friday night!

So we went to a place nearby for grabbing some easy but Japanese food.







I didn't even finish the half of glass over the meal. No alcohol in the flight and I didn't drink much at night, either. You know this kind of thing happens, right?

Am finally HOME!

Will flight back to Bangkok on 13th. Yes, limited time in Japan…

Bangkok's last night for me… Yeah, already it is!!!
Tomorrow, I will fly back to Japan. Just for a week to "stay there."

Today's meeting with client went (dramatically) well. Beyond my expectation.
Meaning that it was quite positive outcome and we WILL move forward soon.
Thus, I will have to come back to this place so soon and concentrate on the work assigned.

Tonight a little festivity took place because of my final night in Bangkok.
Friends came to get together.

They came really late like Thai clock… but it was fun.

Mostly, we spent time on Thai lesson! Perfect for me. I can master this language quickly.
Quickly = "REW REW"

It was Italian dinner and I ate too much. Hahaha.
Good wine, too.

Man good time really passed by fast and I was almost late to the last train!
Anyhow, I learned a lot. Good time, of course!

My hair becomes long and first thing to do in Japan… is going to get haircut. Maybe.

It was quite far to get there… the Weekend Market in Bangkok.
Nearby station was called "Mo Chit."
Took me about 25-30 minutes from my usual station. Not bad, huh.

It was hot… really Thai summer here. I almost got faint.
No purchase made for myself today… but this is really cool place for buying some souvenirs.

After work, I had some appointment.

You know, I had a ride with taxi… No more fears!

Had a lunch at nearby cafe and on the way back to the office… came to this scene.



It was a bit late for me to take the camera out to shoot… They seemed to be some models because there were more than several professional-like photographers taking pictures of those gals.

See it was LATE… they finished the posing, already!

Though, the background of this photo is nothing really interesting… why that place? Hmmm.
I wish I could speak Thai language.

Come to think of it… I am (more than seriously) considering to take some Thai language lessons.
Not cheap… but I think it is worth doing so. Don't you think? Will see.

Shopping day for me in Bangkok today! 1st free day for me to do anything I like.
In the apartment, I had to make it done to clean the bathroom and to take care of laundry.
So my free day officially started early afternoon.

Took train.. and got off at Silom Station.



Walked into Gaysorn - luxury shaping mall complex…
Too expensive to afford for many people… this mall was not crowded at all contrary to other malls that I went today!

I went other malls after that… to Central World… this was HUGE place.
You can even iceskating inside.



I found lots of interesting things in there. I surely come back for more (window) shopping!



Japanese comics are surely popular in Thailand… "Draemon."



Seems to be other version of Draemon available in Thailand… like Draemon playing baseball, which never been published or even exists in Japan.

"Draemon" + baseball -> "Drabase" - Hahaha.

Walked pretty much all afternoon except the time I had coffee at MaCafe.

After Central World, I even checked out two more places… Amarin Plaza and Erawan. They are all located in the small area. Very convenient.

I will surely come back sometime very soon…
It was fun day!

Woke up around 4:30am… to get ready myself for golfing today!
Left the apartment at 5:30am… same like in Japan!

Only the difference… I didn't have to drive since driver comes to pick me up by company car.
Hahaha, good stuff, huh!
I could sleep another 1 hour or so in the car on the way to the course.



Breakfast. Instead of lunch in the middle of play… ate this breakfast. Typical manner in Thai golf.

Nice weather… but the heat was KILLING! (That's why not wasting time eating lunch!)

Thai food… so good! Cannot complain this business travel… too much.

Not much activities going on for the day… except simple work that had to be done.
Somehow, the meeting was not boring… but surely tiring.

Two coffee… had a Thai coffee twice one day.
Tiring meeting made me want to be caffeinated so much!
It must have been so for sure.



Some orange juice I picked up at Robinson last night...



I found a great deal out of this… which is sort small bottle. Contains only 350 ml.



Why great deal about this? Well, it was not mere orange juice… with Nata de Coco!
Good mix!!!

That is why it is called "j Mix?" Hahaha. Don't know.

I regret that I had picked up only 2 of them… should've been more. Hahaha.
I cannot find any at local convenience store as far as I looked today.
Well, I am sure that I will pick up more when going in that place next time.

Spent about 10 dollars today… for all including lunch and supper.
Well, I still cannot tell if I am over spending or not.
I will get used to Thai standard more and more as spending more time here.

Ideally, it would make me a happy to spend somewhere around 7 dollars for meals for daily basis.
Of course, I do not count any of entertainment in Bangkok life! Hehehe.

Finally at work in Thailand… my Bangkok life has begun!
Will see how much I can enjoy myself…

My eyes got easily tired because I didn't stare at the PC screen for the longest period of time in this year.

Made me hungry fast for supper tonight as well.



Japanese restaurant chain located within the same building that my office exists.



It is ALMOST Japanese food… taste was pretty much it.
Costed me much less… though, I bet that this is somewhat expensive to local people.

Never had eaten it before, I guess. Very interesting… Have more than several and I keep eating!
Hahaha.

Be careful when you eat them… Peeling is somewhat hard and you see lots of red all over your hands.
You can wash it off your hand easily…. NOT (NEVER?) on any cloth. Be careful.

That is why called "Queen" like "King" - Dorian. Very dangerous stuff. Hahaha.
No strong smell out of mangosteen, though. Just color issue.

7-hour-flight made me really tired.
When arriving at the corporate apartment near Krun Thon Buri Station, I had no energy left except for food.
I was hungry!

No restaurant near the apartment… no choice and took train to the very next station, Saphan Taksin.





Wrap-up train is very interesting… Lots of ads for sure.



Started with Thai Singha Beer.
Actually, I had two.



"Thai suki" dinner.



Lots of foods...



Kept eating...



Never forgot about the sugar… the dessert.



Had better walked home??? Still had a ride…

Tomorrow is actually Day One in Bangkok!
